Additional Biographic Information

In 1994, Gary conducted an honest assessment of his abilities and decided he was not living up to his potential. He had a great job and a successful career path.  So why did Gary shock his colleagues by announcing that he was leaving his "good government job" to spend more time with his family?  He was not personally fulfilled.

Gary was born and raised in Washington, DC and attended public school.  In high school Gary began to question the advice of his school counselors and advisors who were attempting to guide his future based on test scores and other subjective criteria. Gary was determined to take control of his life and not let other people define his success.  He graduated high school and attended the University of District of Columbia as a full-time student.  One year later Gary entered the work world as a full-time employee working nights and attended college during the day. Eleven years later, Gary graduated with a BS degree in Organizational Management from Columbia Union College.  He also attended Antioch University School of Law, where he studied in the Masters of Legal Science program.

As a motivational speaker Gary Johnson has inspired and entertained thousands of people with his powerful story telling ability.

Gary conceived the idea to build Black Men In America.com on an airplane flying home to DC from Las Vegas the day of the Million Man March in October 1995.  "I wanted to publish a book about black men.  I was rejected by several publishers and decided to turn to the Internet and become my own publisher."  Now publishers turn to Gary to get their books reviewed on his site.

In 2006, Gary partnered with Farley’s Coffee, Inc., The Coffee With a Classic Taste!™ to introduce the Black Men In America.com Soulful Coffee Blends.

Contact Gary today and learn how the secrets of his success can work for you.  You’ll get “straight talk” about goal setting, personal development and how to become a star performer in your organization.
