Black Men In America.com Premium Coffee Blend

(Frequently Asked Questions)

1.  What makes the Black Men In America.com blend of coffee different from other coffee on the market?

Well for starters, each of our gourmet coffee blends begin with focusing on obtaining premium quality coffee beans. The quality of the beans ultimately reflects the quality of your brew.  We used carefully selected “Arabica” coffee beans. Most all non-commercial French Roast coffee is from the “Arabica” coffee tree species. That's the only kind of coffee tree that can produce gourmet quality coffee beans.  The process begins by using various combinations of beans and micro roasting to achieve the quality taste needed to give the Black Men In America.com Blend its uniqueness.

2.   What does “French roasted” mean?

“French Roast” refers to "dark roast" coffees or the type of roast applied to the beans. Keep in mind that quality French Roast gourmet coffee is not harsh and bitter. Quite the opposite; the most common reasons for that harsh and bitter taste are (1) low-end (low quality) beans, (2) over-roasting of the coffee beans, and (3) grinding the coffee beans too fine for the type of coffee maker you are using.

That's why it is so very important for
Farley's Coffee, Inc. The Coffee With a Classic Taste!
to use premium quality coffee beans that are French Roasted correctly.  The roast of the beans must be "just right." Roasting coffee is as much of an art as it is a science. Not all coffee roasters know how to do it correctly.  Coffee beans that are under-roasted – or roasted at too low a temperature – will produce a bland coffee. Beans that are over-roasted – or roasted at too high a temperature – will taste bitter or burnt (sound familiar).

Here's another popular misconception.  The darker the coffee beans are roasted, the stronger the coffee and the higher the caffeine content. Contrary to those beliefs, the opposite is true! Darker roasted coffees – like a French Roast or an even darker Italian Roast – contain about 15% less caffeine than lighter roasted coffees (like a Full City Roast or a Vienna Roast).

3.  What makes a good coffee?

First when grinding beans at home or office, it's important you choose the proper grind setting recommended by the grinder manufacturer.  As simple as it sounds, the correct grind setting for your beans must be consistent with the brewing method you use.

For instance, if you use a drip coffee maker then you want to grind your beans with the "drip" setting on your grinder.

Otherwise, your brew will yield too much – or too little – "extraction" from the hot water resulting in a taste and flavor different than that which you expect.  That's why it's important for you to choose the grind setting recommended by the manufacturer for the type of brewing method you use.

We recommend using “filtered or bottle water” in your coffee brewer.  This is because the chlorine in tap water removes flavor.

4.  What is a “soulful blend” of coffee?

Well we can’t reveal too much because it’s like that old secret recipe.  We could give you 10 different French roast coffees and they would all have their differences.  The Black Men In America.com Blend flavor is distinguished more by the degree of roast than by the particular beans used.  However, this is a delicious coffee, that’s full bodied, with lots of flavor and aroma with light acidity.

5.  Does  the Black Men In America.com blend cost about the same as other gourmet coffee blends?

The Black Men In America.com coffees are very competitive in price.  Gourmet coffee can range from as low $9.00 to $21.99 retail (or higher) based on the price of green beans, country origin and elevation the coffee is grown.

Take for example, the Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. Its price range is $25.00 to $43.00 per pound.  Here’s a little tip--the Japanese currently import 85% of all Blue Mountain coffee produced, according to the Jamaican government.  Japanese prices can approach as much as $62 per pound.
