Has The "Cain Train" Jumped The Tracks?
Black Men In America.com Staff   Latest Allegations of An Extramarital Affair May Derail Cain's Campaign Herman Cain
Two months ago the Herman "Cain Train" was like a political roller coaster gaining momentum for his race to the White House. Cain was at the top of the polls and one of the top Republican presidential candidates. Cain also had strong support from the Tea Party movement. That was then.

Over the past 4 weeks, Herman Cain has had to defend himself against allegations of sexual harassment and having a 13-year extramarital affair. Not to mention trying to manage a strained relationship with some members of the black community.

Yesterday Herman Cain appeared with Wolf Blitzer on CNN to preempt the accusations of a 13-year extramarital affair with Ginger White and dismiss them as false. Cain admitted that he knew Ms. White, referred to her as an acquaintance and claimed he was trying to help her financially. When asked directly whether he had had sex or an affair with the woman, Cain responded unequivocally, "No."

One day after the affair allegations became public, Herman Cain's chief of staff Mark Block confirmed to ABC News that the candidate told his senior staff this morning he's reassessing whether to stay in the race.

Is this the end of the "Cain Train" race for the White House?

10 Wealthiest Black People in the World
Natalie Dawson   Are There Others Who Should Be On This List? Dangote
Billionaires and millionaires aren't always white or oil barons. African Americans can also throw down when it comes to wealth. To prove it, writer Natalie Dawson listed ten of the wealthiest black people in the world by their current estimated worth.

Topping the list is Nigerian business man Aliko Dangote, - of The Dangote Group, which was founded in 1977 as a small firm. Since then, it has substantially grown and earned Dangote himself an estimated worth of $13.8 billion.

This is an interesting read of how some folks fell into or either developed enormous wealth. Some have reviewed the list and noted what they believe to be some notable omissions such as Magic Johnson, Jay-Z, Sean Combs and others.

Take a look at the list and see what you think. We can argue over who has more billions than others. Either way these folks are rich. The top wealth owners are Africans.

Black Doctor.org Provides Articles To Keep You Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Black Doctor
Black Doctor.org (BDO) is the world's largest and most comprehensive online health resource specifically targeted to African Americans.

The Black community has higher incidences of just about every major disease and condition out there, as well as shorter life spans. BDO understands that the uniqueness of Black culture plays a role in our health. They also understand that there's a lot of mistrust of the healthcare system by some in the black community. That mistrust, combined with all the contradictory information in the media today, makes it difficult to truly feel in control of your health, and your life.

The end of another year is here. While it is custom to review and rate the outgoing year - good or bad; today, I challenge you to ask yourself questions that can help you shape the twelve months ahead in a way that serves you well.

  • Are you a hero in your own life?
  • Are you proud of the energy you have put into the world?

If your answer is yes, how can you be of service to others so they too can answer in the affirmative?

The Genius of Leon Huff
Angelo Ellerbee - Double XXposure Media   R&B Legend and Hall of Famer Still Going Strong After All These Years Leon Huff
Leon Huff was born on April 8, 1942 in the New Jersey city of Camden. Huff began playing the piano at age five, which later led to his becoming an accompanist for the junior choir of the 10th Street Baptist Church in Camden. Later, he could frequently be found performing on street corners with "doo wop" groups. He enjoyed minor early success with a group known as The Dynaflows, who after becoming The Lavenders, enjoyed a regional hit with their recording of "The Slide."

In 1971, the team of Gamble and Huff formed Philadelphia International Records, a company that would have tremendous impact on the course of pop music-around the world in the years to come. Signed to a distribution deal by CBS Records, the company turned out hit after hit after hit, writing and producing such entries as "Back Stabbers" by the O'Jays; "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul; "If You Don't Know Me by Now" and "The Love I Lost," both by Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes; and "Love Train" and "For the Love of Money," by The O'Jays.

Huff's latest project on the brink of being released is an album entitled Groovy People. With over 15 years in the making Leon Huff is finally ready to share it with the world. The album consist of remakes of some old time favorites songs such as "Hey There Lonely Girl," originally sung by Eddie Holman. And also "The Way You Do The Things You Do" originally sung by The Temptations. Also featured on the album Mr. Huff's latest group R&B sensation Ju-Taun as well as new ballads that you are guaranteed to enjoy.

  • "Superwoman" Karyn White Is Back
Angelo Ellerbee - Double XXposure Media   The Return of A Legendary Voice in Music Karyn White
She possesses one of the most memorable, distinctive voices ever heard in popular music. She's an accomplished singer/songwriter who etched herself into music history with her smash hit song, the female anthem, Superwoman. That song made international waves, selling over a million units, being certified Gold and named the Billboard R&B Song of the Year in 1989. She IS a super woman. She's Karyn White.

In the years since her last CD was released in 1994 (Make Him Do Right - Warner Brothers), the lovely, soulful vocalist has focused her energy on family, raising and nurturing her daughter Ashley (her daughter with ex-husband, producer/songwriter Terry Lewis of Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis fame). Now that Ashley is a freshman at Howard University, it's time for White to grace her fans - both existing ones and future ones - with the smooth sound of her voice on some new hit tunes. "God has blessed me," said Karyn. "I have a bright, beautiful daughter who is ready to begin her adult life, and now I am ready to resume my public music life."

White's new CD, currently untitled, and scheduled for release in 2012, offers a heartfelt soulfulness seldom heard anywhere. She delivers every note, every inflection, with the flow of a woman who knows what each nuance means to the song. The CD contains another song for the ladies - a female bonding and empowerment tune with an acoustic grit, called Sista Sista. With this future classic, the ladies will hear that they have their champion back on the scene. Heaven is a beautiful song about the best parts of love and Soooo Weak is a mid-tempo groove about a woman enthralled in a relationship that makes her "weak" in all the best ways. Karyn also performs her own version of the Cyndi Lauper classic, True Colors, on this new CD. Karyn related, "True Colors is important to me because the lyrics speak to my heart. It's about the truth of you. I just want people to know that they can have confidence and walk in their destiny...whatever it is." Both woman and men music lovers will appreciate that Karyn has returned to them.

Karyn White has had a considerable career that most of her fans are not aware of. Long before she was a hit vocalist, she was a busy songwriter who wrote and co-wrote songs with music legends and icons.

12 Things The Negro Must Do For Himself
Nannie Helen Burroughs   12 Principles That Stand The Test Of Time nhb
Reprinted by popular demand. Nannie Helen Burroughs (1879-1961) was an educator, orator, religious leader and businesswoman who moved to Washington, D.C., as a young woman to take advantage of the city's superior educational opportunities. The 12 Things The Negro Must Do For Himself was a booklet sold in the early 1900's. The retail price for this booklet was 10 cents. We learned about the book from Black Men In America.com Founder & Publisher Gary Johnson. His 92-year old grandmother gave him her original copy of the book several years ago. Here's a sample of the "12 Things" that many people believe are as relevant today as they were in the 1900's.

    1. The Negro Must Learn To Put First Things First. The First Things Are: Education; Development of Character Traits; A Trade and Home Ownership. The Negro puts too much of his earning in clothes, in food, in show and in having what he calls "a good time." The Dr. Kelly Miller said, "The Negro buys what he WANTS and begs for what he Needs." Too true!

    2. The Negro Must Stop Expecting God and White Folk To Do For Him What He Can Do For Himself. It is the "Divine Plan" that the strong shall help the weak, but even God does not do for man what man can do for himself. The Negro will have to do exactly what Jesus told the man (in John 5:8) to do--Carry his own load--"Take up your bed and walk."

    3. The Negro Must Keep Himself, His Children And His Home Clean And Make The Surroundings In Which He Lives Comfortable and Attractive. He must learn to "run his community up"--not down. We can segregate by law, we integrate only by living. Civilization is not a matter of race, it is a matter of standards. Believe it or not--some day, some race is going to outdo the Anglo-Saxon, completely. It can be the Negro race, if the Negro gets sense enough. Civilization goes up and down that way.

Calling All Fathers: Sober, Responsible & Spiritually Guided - You Are Needed!!
    David Miller   David Miller
The deviance at Penn State should be another glaring example that we no longer live in a child-friendly society. Anytime there are people more concerned about a football coach than the hearts and minds of children, it sends a clear message about the state of our society.

Now more than ever, we need fathers to make their children a priority! Children with disengaged parents are far more likely to become victims of abuse.

The issue at Penn State should be a wake-up call to all parents. It is time that we realize that we are 100% responsible for education and salvation of our children. All too often, we want to send our sons to programs when as parents we must do more. For the last few days, my emotions have ranged from angry to empty. These kinds of things are happening to our sons on our watch.
