Mildred D. Muhammad is the ex-wife of John Allen Muhammad – the convicted and recently executed DC sniper who terrorized the Washington DC metropolitan area in late 2002.

After several years of silence, Mildred decided to speak openly about her day-to-day experiences as a survivor of domestic violence and how it affected her three children.

Mildred's son and my son are friends.  Mildred has been a guest on numerous national news and talk shows promoting her book Scared Silent My son came to me and said, "Dad, I think John's mom is getting a raw deal on some of these news shows.  People are blaming her for the sniper shootings and deaths.  Maybe you can interview her on Black Men In America.com and give her a fair shot at telling her story."

I had seen Mildred's interviews on CNN and FOX News.  Some of the questions appeared to be anything but "fair and balanced" and the interviews were short.  There wasn't enough time for Mildred to adequately address the questions.

I decided to reach out to Mildred to give her an opportunity to tell her story uninterrupted

This six part interview was conducted on December 8, 2009 at Mildred's office.  The interviewer is Janice Wilson, a Staff Reporter and Book Reviewer for Black Men In America.com.

Gary Johnson and Janice developed a list of questions.  Mildred did not see the question in advance.  Janice was in complete control of the interview.  There was no rehearsal or practice.  This was not a "Hollywood style" video production.  We simply asked Mildred to sit in a chair and answer our questions which she graciously agreed.

As you watch and listen to Mildred's story you will learn that Mildred did not seek the limelight.  She was thrust into the spotlight because her former husband was John Allen Muhammad.

Mildred has dedicated her life to helping survivors of domestic violence re-establish their lives

I hope you find value in this interview.
